How DoevStream Works: A Quick Tour

New to DoevStream? Here's how it works, from installing the app to watching your first title.

1. Install the app

DoevStream has apps for Android TV and Google TV, Android phones and Android tablets (Android 8.0 or later). Get them from the Downloads page, where each APK has its version, size, SHA-256 checksum and install steps. Store listings are planned for later.

2. Create your account

A free account keeps everything in sync. Sign up with your email and a password, then enter the 6-digit code we email you to confirm it. Forgot your password later? You reset it with a code too.

On a TV or tablet you don't have to type at all: the sign-in screen shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone while you're signed in to DoevStream there, and the TV signs in.

3. Set up profiles

  • Up to 5 profiles per account, each with its own history, My List, language and settings.
  • Kids profiles with an age from 3 to 12 show titles rated for that age (ratings from TMDB), and a PIN keeps kids from switching to other profiles. It's a helpful filter, not a guarantee, so stay involved.
  • Trakt — optionally connect a profile to Trakt to scrobble and sync your watchlist, history and progress.

4. Add your add-ons

Browsing works from the start: movies and shows come with details and artwork from TMDB. To play a title you need streams, and those come from Stremio-compatible add-ons — independent software made by third parties. Add-ons can also add extra catalogs and tabs, such as Live TV.

DoevStream hosts no content. You choose and install add-ons yourself, and you're responsible for making sure they — and what they provide — are lawful where you live. Your add-on list syncs to your other devices.

5. Browse and watch

Home shows rows like Continue Watching, My List and Trending, and the Shows and Movies tabs lead with what's new. Press play and the built-in player handles up to 4K HDR (depending on the source), frame-rate matching, hardware or software decoding and extended audio such as DTS and TrueHD. Style subtitles your way, or hand playback to VLC, MX Player or mpv.

Your progress follows you: start on the TV, finish on your phone.
